Princess Amelia Part 4

So Amelia never found Hakanku but she did get another friend. He was Lukombo the Bush Baby. Lukombo the Bush Baby wasn’t like a normal one he was awake during the day and asleep at night, he wasn’t shy, and the best thing about him was that he talked. And he didn’t only talk, he talked on and on and on about the silliest things and funny things and clever things, but he was never serious. That’s what Amelia lived about him, he was never serious. They were always laughing together, he was her best friend. She even set up a few branches for him to climb on in her hut. On one rainy morning Lukombo was on his favourite branch when Amelia woke up. “Hi Amelia! Would you like me to go and get some fruit outside?” Lukombo asked. Amelia replied, “Oh Lukombo! You are ever so sweet but I don’t want you to get cold and wet. Come and snuggle up with me!” He crawled into her beautiful bed. And they both fell back to sleep. When they woke up it was still pouring with rain so Amelia said, “Wait! Have an idea!”She went to her back garden (which luckily had a roof on top of it) and picked some flowers and gathered some papyrus. She went inside and told Lukombo her idea, “Here, we can make nice hats out of papyrus and decorate them with flowers.” Lukombo was too eager to start he didn’t even listen! The hats were a big hit they made 3 each. Lukombo said that he was going to wear his every day “I am getting sunburned, you just can’t see it!” Amelia just laughed and made another one but this time it was for Lukombo. And that day when she lay in her bed thinking, she thought “I really do love him, like he’s my only child!”
